Re- and deconstructing history and identity politics in urban spaces and systems – A critical online guide for Cologne City | Geschichts- und Identitätspolitiken in urbanen Räumen und Systemen re- und dekonstruieren – Ein kritischer Oline-Stadtführer für die Statd Köln

Not only German colonialism, but also the nationalism and militarism of the imperial era have left their mark on Cologne. In the form of street and square names, monuments and architecture, identity-political self-assertions, mythologisations and glorifications continue to the present day – in some cases very uncritically and without comment.
Building on the results of the previous semester’s project, an online guide is now to be developed that makes these historical artefacts of memory and critical spatial productions the subject of political education. The project is also open to students who did not take part in the previous project in the summer semester.

Nicht nur der deutsche Kolonialismus, sondern auch der Nationalismus und Militarismus der Kaiserzeit haben in Köln ihre Spuren hinterlassen. In Form von Straßen- und Platznamen, Denkmälern und Architekturen setzen sich identitätspolitische Selbstvergewisserungen, Mythologisierungen und Glorifizierungen bis in die Gegenwart fort – zum Teil sehr unkritisch und unkommentiert.
Aufbauend auf den Projektergebnissen des vorangegangenen Semesters soll nun ein Online-Guide entwickelt werden, der diese historischen Erinnerungsartefakte und ktitischen Raumproduktionen zum Gegenstand politischer Bildung macht. Das Projekt steht auch Studierenden offen, die nicht am Vorgängerprojekt im Sommersemester teilgenommen haben.
