Cologne city history(ies) – Urban Narratives and Myths | Kölner Stadtgeschichte(n) – Urbane Narrative und Mythen

Urban identities are significantly shaped by narratives. These are by no means simple stories or history in the sense of a historical sequence, but rather complex, affirmative, and sometimes ideological constructions. In the spirit of a reflective culture of remembrance and political education, they constantly require new contextualization and commentary.
In this long-term project, we aim to identify these urban narratives and myths and re- and deconstruct them through visual research.

Städtische Identitäten werden maßgeblich durch Narrative geprägt. Dabei handelt es sich keineswegs um einfache Geschichten oder Geschichte im Sinne eines historischen Ablaufs, sondern um komplexe, affirmative und teilweise ideologische Konstruktionen. Im Sinne einer reflektierten Erinnerungskultur und politischer Bildung bedürfen sie stets neuer Kontextualisierungen und Kommentierungen.
In diesem langfristigen Projekt wollen wir diese urbanen Narrative und Mythen identifizieren und visuell forschend re- und dekonstruieren.
