SpeiseWald Süd is an urban food forest project that is based on the work of (now former) KISD students Anna Luz Pueyo and Clara Schmeinck in 2020. Since 2023, the new Food Systems AG led by Prof. Heidkamp is exploring opportunities to realize this visionary project. After five years, the project has finally been granted a piece of land by the city of Cologne in the area of Parkstadt Sud, making way for a future urban food forest.
In this project, we take a brief but intensive look at the specific local conditions and existing ecosystems of SpeiseWald Süd. On site and with the involvement of local stakeholders, in particular our partners NeuLand eV and KGS Manizer Straße (primary school), we develop and design approaches for the spatial design and planning of soil regeneration and planting. The aim is to develop initial interventions on site that make the processes and intentions visible and tangible.

SpeiseWald Süd ist ein urbaner Food Forest, der auf der Arbeit der (mittlerweile ehemaligen) KISD-Studierenden Anna Luz Pueyo und Clara Schmeinck aus dem Jahr 2020 basiert. Seit 2023 exploriert die neue Food Systems AG unter der Leitung von Prof. Heidkamp Möglichkeiten zur Umsetzung eines solchen visionären Projekts. Nach fünf Jahren hat das Projekt nun endlich ein Grundstück von der Stadt Köln im Bereich Parkstadt Süd erhalten, das den Weg für einen zukünftigen urbanen Nahrungswald ebnet.

In diesem Projekt setzen wir uns kurz und intensiv mit den spezifischen räumlichen Begebenheiten und dem vorhandenen Ökosystem des SpeiseWald Süd auseinander, Vor Ort und unter Einbeziehung lokaler Akteure, insbesondere unserer Partner NeuLand eV und  KGS Manizer Straße (Grundschule)  entwickeln und entwerfen wir Ansätze für die räumliche Ausgestaltung und Planung von Pflanzen und der Regeneration des Bodens. Ziel ist es, erste Interventionen vor Ort zu entwickeln, die Prozesse und Intention sichtbar und erllebbar machen.
