The way a text is designed—from the choice of font to the layout and white space—reveals a lot about its content. A newspaper follows different design rules than a magazine, and a schoolbook uses typography differently than a novel. In this project, we decode the language of design: we analyze how formats, grids, fonts, and space allocation create hierarchies and meanings—and learn to make conscious decisions that coherently combine content and form.

In the next phase, we give a text you choose that’s worth reading a new, inspiring visual look—from the concept to the printed, bound, and presented result.

Basic knowledge of the InDesign program is a plus.

Die Art, wie ein Text gestaltet ist – von der Schriftwahl über das Layout bis zum Weißraum – verrät bereits viel über seinen Inhalt. Eine Zeitung folgt anderen Gestaltungsregeln als ein Magazin, ein Schulbuch setzt Typografie anders ein als ein Roman. In diesem Projekt entschlüsseln wir die Sprache der Gestaltung: Wir analysieren, wie Formate, Raster, Schrift und Flächenaufteilung Hierarchien und Bedeutungen erzeugen – und lernen, bewusste Entscheidungen zu treffen, die Inhalt und Form schlüssig verbinden.

In der folgenden Phase verschaffen wir einem lesenswerten Text, den ihr selbst auswählt, einen neuen, inspirierenden visuellen Auftritt – von der Konzeption bis zum gedruckten, gebundenen und präsentierten Ergebnis.

Grundkenntnisse im Gestaltungsprogramm InDesign sind erwünscht.
