“Dangerzone Back End: Dangerous Minds – Dangerous XPs” is a course that explores the intersections of artificial intelligence and the potential dangers it poses. Participants will be mapping AI positions in 2D and translating them into 3D installations and performances. The course culminates in an exhibition of the students’ works.
Throughout the course, students will examine concepts such as extractivism, habitat exploitation, AI panic, AI paranoia, AI hysteria, and the contrast between tech-doomism and tech-savourism. They will also delve into the topic of the Human Technological Assemblage, as well as the asynchronous nature of technological assemblages and the dangers that arise from their interactions.
The course encourages participants to consider questions such as: What is the definition of “dangerous intelligence”? Who plays a role in this intelligent system? And how could this be translated into an audio-visual work/conversation piece/artefact?
The course takes a methodological approach to experimental artistic research, producing artefacts with “position”, critically engaging socio-cultural contributions with sensory experience components, and balancing participation vs. edutainment and/or Conceptual Media Art.
