Data Literacy Basiskurs | Data Literacy basic course

Data literacy is a key skill of the future. The planned and secure handling of data as well as its conscious and ethically reflected use is becoming increasingly important in all areas of life. The seminar builds on the basic course of the Data Literacy Initiative of the TH Köln (th-koeln.de/dali) and provides an insight into the various data competencies. It is interdisciplinary and is offered at several faculties at the TH Köln.

Together with other students at the TH Köln, you will deal with topics related to acquiring data literacy in a hybrid learning setting using the flipped classroom method. You will independently work on the content of our self-learning offer on the “KI-Campus” learning platform. Every two weeks you will work on a task that you share on the THspaces and discuss with your fellow students in peer feedback. Every two weeks there are online face-to-face events with all participants in which you will discuss open questions together in plenary and further discuss, deepen and reflect on the topic at hand.
You will receive an overview of the following topics of the data lifecycle: establishing data culture, providing data, managing data, evaluating data, interpreting data and results, classifying data, publishing data.

The seminar can also be credited towards the Data Literacy Certificate awarded by the TH Köln.

The introductory and information session is on Tuesday, October 8th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The online face-to-face events take place every two weeks on Tuesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the following dates (please keep them free): October 15th, October 29th, November 12th, December 3rd, December 5th, December 17th, January 7th, January 21st, and February 4th.

Data Literacy ist eine zentrale Kompetenz der Zukunft. Der planvolle und sichere Umgang mit Daten sowie ihr bewusster und ethisch reflektierter Einsatz gewinnt in allen Lebensbereichen zunehmend an Bedeutung. Das Seminar baut auf dem Basiskurs der Data Literacy Initiative der TH Köln (th-koeln.de/dali) auf und gibt einen Einblick über die verschiedenen Datenkompetenze. Es ist interdisziplinär und wird an der TH Köln an mehreren Fakultäten angeboten.

Sie setzten sich gemeinsam mit anderen Studiendenen der TH Köln in einem hybriden Lernsetting nach der Flipped Classroom-Methode mit Themen zur Erlangung von Data Literacy auseinander. Dabei erarbeiten Sie sich selbständig Inhalte unseres Selbstlernangebots auf der Lernplattform »KI-Campus«. Sie bearbeiten alle zwei Wochen eine Aufgabe, die Sie auf den THspaces teilen und mit Ihren Kommiliton*innen im Peer-Feedback diskutieren. Alle zwei Wochen finden Online-Präsenzveranstaltungen mit allen Teilnehmenden statt, in denen Sie gemeinsam im Plenum offene Fragestellungen diskutieren und die vorliegende Thematik weiter erörtern, vertiefen und reflektieren.
Dabei erhalten Sie einen Überblick über folgende Themengebiete des Datenlebenszyklus: Datenkultur etablieren, Daten bereitstellen, Daten managen, Daten auswerten, Daten und Ergebnisse interpretieren, Daten einordnen, Daten publizieren.

Das Seminar kann auch für das von der TH Köln vergebene Data Literacy Zertifikat angerechnet werden.

Der Einführungs- und Informationstermin ist am Dienstag, den 8.10. von 16:30 bis 18:00 Uhr.
Die Online-Präsenzveranstaltungen finden alle zwei Wochen jeweils Dienstags von 16:30 bis 18:00 Uhr an folgenden Terminen statt (bitte freihalten):
15.10., 29.10., 12.11., 03.12., 05.12., 17.12., 07.1., 21.01. und 04.02.
