How do contemporary crises affect our cultural memory and collective remembrance? What do climate change, colonial continuities, authoritarian governments, and the declining trust in science, information, politics, and democracy play in this context? Within the framework of the new TH research focus “Memory Culture in Crisis”, we are collaborating with the faculties of Cultural Sciences, Architecture, and Applied Social Sciences. Our research will focus on three main areas: First, how the climate crisis is transforming cultural assets and heritage. Second, the significance of collective memory in our post-migrant society. And third, how artificial intelligence is influencing our shared remembrance.
Together, we have submitted a research proposal to the German Research Foundation (DFG), which will be reviewed by international experts at the KISD on May 15 and 16, 2025. To optimally prepare for this review, we are planning an event that will impress the reviewers: We will work in teams to organize different areas such as communication, exhibition, interior design, technology, and catering to achieve a successful result.
