In collaboration with the DLR Institute for AI Security (Department Quantum AI and Quantum-classical Hybrid Systems) we are offering a teaching research project in the areas of Interaction Design (Prof. Dr Lasse Scherffig) and Image & Motion (Prof. Nina Juric) as an international journey on the design of interactive/media exhibition objects to represent the invisible using the example of quantum mechanics/quantum computing. This will end in an applied design case to be continued.
A group of 10-15 german and 15 american students will be involved, plus 3 teachers on each site, as well as DLR experts on the topic.
The aim is to develop exhibition objects on quantum mechanics/quantum computing that enable the comprehensibility of future developments in this field and thus communication in order to support social discourse on future technologies. In addition to knowledge, integrated design practices and inter- and transdisciplinary design processes from two (academic) worlds are brought together and translated into artefacts that serve the exhibition. DLR is contributing its expertise in this area, while the KISD/Parsons students are working on the audiovisual/interactive production of prototypes and the communication of the topics. It is planned to exhibit the results as part of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (2025). Stay tuned!

We are continuing KISD’s collaboration with the School of Art, Media, & Technology at the renowned Parsons School of Design in NYC, USA. (One of the most famous design schools in the world:)) – Together with our partners from the DLR /Institute for AI Safety and Security we are looking for a solid design team and interested KISDies who want to get involved in an international exchange format and finally become inscribed into our upcoming IXP:
Together, we will travel to NEW YORK <> AMSTERDAM, KÖLN in OCT/NOV 24
> Longterm Project run time: till end JAN 25. / No colliding projects possible.
For the first time, an IXP will be organised in combination with the jointly developed format of an IOP (International Outsider Project), which has been used in recent years with Parsons. Means: Mutual visits to the respective locations of the universities (NY/Cologne) will be combined with a joint innovative travel format (field trip) in Amsterdam to co-work on a specifiy topic.
Working meetings and intercultural exchange are planned in New York (7.-11. October) and in Europe (Cologne/Amsterdam 21.11. – 30.11) as well as online collaboration in between to ensure collaborative work in international teams USA/DE within the framework of an IXP (International Exchange Project).
