History and present of the identity-political production of space in the city of Cologne. | Identitätspolitik und Raumproduktion

This project aims to investigate the extent to which urban space is visibly or imperceptibly determined by diverse historical and ideological representations and coding. The focus is on the relics and traces of German nationalism, colonialism and imperialism in the city of Cologne. The aim of the project is to design a city map that identifies, analyses and makes visible the continuing effects of historical identity politics up to the present day.

In diesem Projekt soll untersucht werden, inwieweit der städtische Raum durch vielfältige historische und ideologische Repräsentationen und Codierungen merklich oder unmerklich bestimmt wird. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf den Relikten und Spuren des deutschen Nationalismus, Kolonialismus und Imperialismus in der Stadt Köln. Ziel des Projektes ist es, einen Stadtplan zu entwerfen und zu gestalten, der das Fortwirken historischer Identitätspolitiken bis in die Gegenwart identifiziert, analysiert und sichtbar macht.
