IOP: Lucid Dreams - MXL goes USTP (St.Pölten, Österreich)

In May 2026, the Motion Experience Lab (MXL) has been invited to Austria for the Lucid Dreams – happy Palace festival (May 22–23, 2026, FH St. Pölten/USTP). The festival, organized by the Department of Experimental Media, combines immersive installations, interactive formats, and performative dramaturgy at the intersection of art, science, and technology. The 2026 edition reflects on our relationship with the digital present between comfort, control, intimacy, and public life.

As part of this International Outsider Project (IOP), 5–6 regular KISD students (no internationals) will take on project management, production coordination, event and travel planning, and develop an overarching KISD/MXL representation for the live setting. Stay expected to be May 18–24, 2026 (setup, testing, festival operations). A willingness to travel is mandatory.

A total of approx. 15 students (IC-supported) will travel: 5 each from the short terms “Happy Palace” (short film) and “Mnemo” (Mindpalaces/installation) as well as this group for the superstructure organization, setup, exhibition communication, mediation, and documentation.

Accommodation in Vienna/St. Pölten is advantageous; couch surfing may be necessary. Parallel participation in IOP and short Terms is not possible.

Im Mai 2026 ist das Motion Experience Lab (MXL) zum Festival Lucid Dreams – happy Palace (22.–23.05.2026, FH St. Pölten/USTP) nach Österreich eingeladen. Das Festival des Fachbereichs Experimentelle Medien verbindet immersive Installationen, interaktive Formate und performative Dramaturgien an der Schnittstelle von Kunst, Wissenschaft und Technologie. Die Ausgabe 2026 reflektiert unsere Beziehung zur digitalen Gegenwart zwischen Komfort, Kontrolle, Intimität und Öffentlichkeit.

Im Rahmen dieses International Outsider Projects (IOP) übernehmen 5–6 reguläre KISD-Studierende (keine Internationals) Projektmanagement, Produktionskoordination sowie Event- und Reiseplanung und entwickeln eine übergreifende KISD/MXL-Repräsentation für das Live-Setting. Aufenthalt voraussichtlich 18.–24.05.2026 (Aufbau, Tests, Festivalbetrieb). Eine verbindliche Reisebereitschaft ist erforderlich. 

Insgesamt reisen ca. 15 Studierende (IC-supported): je 5 aus den Short Terms „Happy Palace“ (Kurzfilm) und „Mnemo“ (Mindpalaces/Installation) sowie diese Gruppe für den Überbau Organisation, Setup, Ausstellungskommunikation, Vermittlung und Dokumentation.

Unterkunft in Wien/St. Pölten von Vorteil; ggf. Couchsurfing erforderlich. Eine parallele Teilnahme an IOP und Short Terms ist nicht möglich.
