The performance group KÀDDU YARAAX from Dakar works at the intersection of theater, city and society. With its actions in urban space, it aims to inspire, forge alliances and open up possibilities for a pluralistic, emancipatory and post-migrant society, intervening in political debates and creating a public space. In the collaborative experimentation of performance strategies, bodies and orders are set in motion, stories of everyday life and experience are produced, the old is disassembled and reassembled, so that the boundary between reality and fiction begins to waver. In a collective process with the audience, the performers construct theatrical situations for the public on streets and squares – always in search of the utopia for tomorrow.
Together with Mouhamadou Diol (artistic director) and Leity Kane from KÀDDU YARAAX in Dakar and in exchange with the group “Theater – City – School” of Schauspiel Köln, we take a look at the spatial-social dimension of these performative intervention practices and invite you to play along, to create, to contradict and to explore.
