After summer schools in Vilnius (2022) and Tampere (2023), we are returning to Vilnius once again to deal with questions of “Expanded Animation”. This time, the focus will be on audiovisual translations. The occasion is the centenary of the Lithuanian Song Festival, a festival of traditional music that is part of UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
In the summer school, we will work collaboratively with students from the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Vilnius Tech and the University of Porto. Technically, we will look at new methods of animation such as motion capture, 3D scanning, AR & VR, character automation and generative AI.
Our stay in Vilnius will be in June 24-29 (plus travel). There will be online-meetings and meetings at KISD in the weeks before the project (to be announced).
There is ERASMUS support for the travel costs.

Nach Summerschools in Vilnius (2022) und Tampere (2023) begeben wir uns ein weiteres Mal nach Vilnius, um uns mit Fragen der „Expanded Animation“ zu befassen. Als Thema stehen diesmal audiovisuelle Übersetzungen im Mittelpunkt. Anlass ist der hundertste Geburtstag des Lithuanian Song Festival, einem Festival für traditionelle Musik, das Teil des immateriellen Weltkulturerbes der UNESCO ist.
In der Summerschool werden wir kollaborativ mit Studierenden der Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, Vilnius Tech und University of Porto arbeiten. Technisch betrachten wir neue Methoden der Animation wie Motion Capture, 3D-Scanning, AR & VR, Character Automation und Generative AI.
Der Aufenthalt in Vilnius ist für den 24.-29.6. geplant (zzgl. An-/Abreise). Virtuelle Treffen mit den anderen Gruppen sowie Treffen an der KISD werden bereits früher im Semester stattfinden (und vorher angekündigt).
Für die Reisekosten gibt es eine Unterstützung durch ERASMUS.
