Around 15 percent of the female population are women with disabilities. Article 6 of the Disability Rights Convention commits to action on the rights of women with disabilities, yet many are at risk of poverty. Twenty-six percent of women with disabilities do not have a vocational qualification. Government agencies are required to protect women with disabilities from abuse. But what is the reality?
In an intensive two-week project, we will address this alarming issue. Not only will we have conversations, but we will also work on creative interventions to bring attention to the situation.
The first part is dedicated to understanding and sharing personal experiences. Experts will offer exciting insights. In the second part we will develop creative interventions. We will design inclusive ideas that are accessible to as many people as possible.
The resulting concepts can be presented in an exhibition and a print publication. The goal of the project is to stimulate discussion about multiple discrimination and structural violence with a focus on inclusion and gender. Through implementation, we hope to raise awareness about violence against women with disabilities.
More specific dates will be announced in Project Space. Project language will be mainly German due to the cooperation partners, please feel free to participate as there will be a solution.
