For seven years, the BRITNEY X Festival of Schauspiel Köln has been an important platform for performing arts in the city that deals with topics such as diversity, feminism, queerness and empowerment.

From May 24 to 26, the festival will present a variety of performances, concerts, workshops and parties – and for the first time at the Carlswerk site in Cologne-Mülheim.

The medium-term project deals with the elaboration of the concept already developed in the winter semester around “Lust & Control” and other taboo topics. In cooperation with the Schauspielhaus Köln, our project will deal with the realization of the concept for an exhibition in the foyer of Depot 1 + 2.

To complement our concept team, we are looking for KISDies who are interested in experimenting with different materials, such as natural latex, and are motivated to contribute to this special event. Ideally, you should already have previous experience in the fields of furniture construction and product design and have some manual skills.

Lust and control are seemingly irreconcilable contradictions.
The female body unites this paradox duality. For hardly anything is so repressively controlled by social conventions and at the same time so extremely stylized as an object of sexual desire. And yet both topics, lust and control, are still taboos in relation to femininity.

But how is such a cognitive dissonance experienced in a social context? The exhibition aims to break with the taboos and stigmas associated with existence in a female body. Shame-laden topics, such as the first menstruation or masturbation and other complex facets of the female experience, are brought closer through spatial installations and personal stories.

The exhibition in the Schauspielhaus invites visitors to confront taboo topics relating to femininity and at the same time offers a safe space for reflection on how to deal with them.

Das mittelfristige Projekt befasst sich mit der Ausarbeitung des bereits im Wintersemester erarbeiteten Konzepts rund um »Lust & Kontrolle« und andere Tabuthemen. In Kooperation mit dem Schauspielhaus Köln wird sich unser Projekt mit der Realisierung des Konzepts für eine Ausstellung im Foyer des Depot 1 + 2 auseinandersetzen.

Zur Ergänzung unseres Konzeptteams suchen wir KISDies, die Lust auf Experimente mit verschiedenen Materialien, wie beispielsweise Naturlatex, haben und motiviert sind, einen Beitrag zu diesem besonderen Event zu leisten. Idealerweise habt ihr bereits Vorerfahrungen in den Bereichen Möbelbau und Produktdesign und bringt handwerkliche Kenntnisse mit.

Lust & Kontrolle stehen sich in einem scheinbar unüberwindbaren Widerspruch gegenüber. Der weibliche Körper vereint diese paradoxe Dualität in sich. Denn kaum etwas wird so repressiv durch gesellschaftliche Konventionen kontrolliert und gleichzeitig so extrem zu einem Objekt der sexuellen Begierde hochstilisiert. Und trotzdem stellen beide Themen, Lust & Kontrolle, noch immer Tabus in Bezug zur Weiblichkeit dar.

Doch wie erlebt sich so eine kognitive Dissonanz im gesellschaftlichen Kontext? Die Ausstellung zielt darauf ab, mit den Tabus und Stigmata zu brechen, die eine Existenz in einem weiblichen Körper mit sich bringen. Schambehaftete Themen, wie die erste Menstruation oder Masturbation und andere komplexen Facetten der weiblichen Erfahrung, werden über räumliche Installationen und persönliche Geschichten näher gebracht.

Die Ausstellung im Schauspielhaus lädt zur Konfrontation mit Tabuthemen rund um Weiblichkeit ein und bietet gleichzeitig einen gesicherten Raum für Reflexion im Umgang mit ihnen.
