A SMS chat in book form? An online archive as a print product? Or typographically typesetting and printing the old blog from the early 2000s? All this is possible in the two-week workshop “Vice Versa”.
The digital space is often understood as the antagonist of the analog. Separate spheres that find it difficult to come together. However, the word “analog” is not only the opposite of “digital,” but can also mean “congruent,” “the same,” or “like,” in short: vice versa. So, to what extent is the binary idea of analog and digital still true today? And does it always have to work in only one direction? The project participants deal with these questions in a practical way by taking a step that is unusual for our time: They analogize.
In this project, you will develop an individual print publication that “analogizes” digital content. The project will include all phases of a print production: topic search, structuring, editing, storytelling, design, and printing. In 14 days, you will search for digital topics, develop the content, think about a graphic form and finally print it.
