Course Selection at KISD
The document courses at KISD will give you an insight about the academic offer. After reading it, please fill in the questionnaire. We will prepare your academic schedule.
We will contact you again by the end of February, when the course catalogue for the Summer Semester 2018 has been published.

Please send us by March 2nd your questionnaire and your PechaKucha pdf document.

Dear Exchange Students,

please find attached the first information regarding your start at KISD.

We also encourage you to read the information at the following link.

During the next days we will also send you details about the organization of the Welcome Day, your pecha kucha presentation and the course selection.

Last but not least we kindly ask you to arrive to Cologne approx. by week 12 of March 2018. The Welcome Day is on March 27 and you can do your enrollment between March 19 and March 26, 2018.

Things to know when renting an apartment in Germany

To do before traveling to Cologne:

Step 1: Visa

Step 2: Housing

Step 3: (German language courses)

Step 4: passport photos

To do after your arrival in Cologne:

Step 1: Find Accomodation

Step 2: Health insurance

Step 3: Enrolment at Cologne University of Applied Sciences

Step 4: Report residence to Cologne Residents’ and Aliens’ Registration office

Step 5: Open bank account

Step 6: Set up CampusID-account (Internet access/Email-account) at CUAS

Step 7: Transfer semester fee

Step 8: Generate and print NRW Ticket

Step 9: Get imprint on your MultiCa student ID at one of the CUAS campuses

Step 10: Check and choose course offerings

Step 11: Certify your Visa if necessary – make appointment with the Immigration Office early on.

When you are looking for accommodation in Cologne, there are lots of webpages you can use.

This page belongs to the studentenwerk, which is a central institution governing student services in Cologne. They manage all the student residences in Cologne and you can apply online.

An alternative to the student residences is private flatshares, in German called WG’s (Wohngemeinshaft). There are several webpages to find private flatshares, some of them are:

You can also find accommodation in Cologne through Facebook. KISD has an international group, where students post available flats and you can also ask for help in your search for accommodation:

Another useful Facobook group is called NETT-WERK KÖLN. It is a group of people that lives in Cologne, and through this group you can sell and buy everything – including flats and cheap furniture for you new home:

Another way to find a private flat or flatshare is through the school. Write to the international office, they are always ready to help and the will also forward offers from outgoing students. Write and email to exchange_tutor@kisd.de

Deadlines

For studying in the winter term (beginning around September 15th) please apply to the International Committee before May 15th. For summer term (beginning around March 15th) please apply to the International Committee until November 15th.
